Vice President, Communications

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience:
§ Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field required
§ 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, public relations &communications (non-profit experience preferred)
§ Experience with developing layouts for publications and experience placing stories and messages in major media markets a plus
§ Previous experience creating and managing a budget for a department or division of organization
§ 3-5 years previous management experience

Summary: The Vice President, Communications is responsible for managing a team of communications and events professionals that are focused on implementing a comprehensive communications, marketing, events and brand management strategy. Additionally, the VP, Communications is accountable to communications and events budget results.

Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

§ Directs the development and execution of a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy and budget for several Chamber related entities through an agency style approach
§ Develops and manages marketing campaigns to attract, retain, and engage Chamber members
§ Actively creates and / or seizes opportunities to share daily / weekly Chamber messages with key constituencies, including various Chamber boards, investors, members, public officials and the public in order to foster strong public relations for the Chamber
§ Directs the content and production of a wide range of materials including talking points, newsletters, annual reports, media releases, marketing materials and websites
§ Supervises and directs the activities of professionals with varying degrees of responsibility in the areas of media relations, marketing, communications, research and events
§ Directs the production of special events which would include, but not be limited to, securing speakers, developing compelling messaging and print / video materials, coordinating media relations that convey these as premier business community events
§ Conducts research and analyzes data to most effectively communicate and serve members.
§ Represents the Chamber in a positive and professional manner at work and through community involvement
§ Performs other duties as required
§ Works toward continuous quality improvement
§ Stays current with changing technology, including software programs
§ Upholds, supports, and promotes all company policies and procedures
